Graveyard Fields

This past weekend the Caroline and Steven Bobo came to visit us in Asheville. We had a wonderful time showing them around the town and catching up. We did a tour of the Bitmore House on Saturday, and were able to see of the Christmas decorations. Sunday, we hiked at Graveyard Fields, one of the trails off of the Blueridge Parkway. The area got it's name years ago from the tree stumps and surrounding trees that looked like grave stones in a graveyard setting. The trees were toppled by a huge wind several hundred years ago. Then in 1925, an intense fire burned the recently logged area, and the forest has been slow in recovering since. It was a good hike with great views and two great waterfalls. We were so glad to enjoy such a fun weekend with the Bobos!

War Eagle

Ranger got a surprise in the mail yesterday. Mrs. Janet was so sweet to send him an Auburn jersey. He was quite excited to put it on, and loved running around the house pretending to be a football player. He wants to wear it this Saturday while watching the Auburn game on TV. Maybe it will even bring the Auburn Tigers some good luck! War Eagle!

Ranger Update

Happy Halloween! Ranger likes his Halloween costume......sometimes. It usually only lasts about a minute before he starts pawing it off.

Ranger's favorite NFL team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He really likes watching football with Logan.

But at the end of the day.....his favorite thing is to lay on the sofa with me!

Ranger

Logan and I got Ranger our English Springer Spaniel on Thursday. He is a quiet, laid back puppy who loves to sleep, eat, and sleep some more! He likes to play with his toys, and he can already fetch a little. I bought him a Halloween pirate's hat that he only likes to wear when he is sleepy. We are so excited to have him, as I have wanted a dog for a long time. He is just perfect!

NC Mountain Fair

This week is the NC Mountain State Fair. It is located about 15 minutes outside of Asheville. It has the usual fair rides along with really cool agricultural exhibits. I took some picutres of the Brahman bulls as well as the llamas. We also took a ride in the chair lift which allowed us to see views of the enitre fair grounds. For lunch I ate the famous fair corn dog.....what would the fair be without yummy corn dogs? I also managed to bring home a gold fish. So far he is still alive!

The llamas. These guys teeth look so funny!

Logan has been growing a 'stache!!!

Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend Logan and I went to North East Alabama to visit our families. Friday and Saturday we stayed in Centre with the Tuckers. Sunday and Monday we were in Mentone. We had a family fish fry and watched the Auburn game. FYI: If you ever have a fish fry and want to know if the oil is hot enough to start cooking, place a match in the oil and if it is hot enough it with light. You can also put a drop of water in the oil and it should bubble on the top of the oil.

Logan and I went fly fishing and caught some very small brim. Not even worthy of a picture! Logan checked out the kayak, and we all enjoyed boat rides on the river.

We took a coulpe of family photos as well. We always like to go to Desoto falls to take a family picture on "the rock."

Logan and I stayed in the "Little House" this trip!
